Y’all Come Back Now

Mar 25, 2015

That’s a wrap for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2015! Every year, Rodeo Houston touches the hearts of millions of Houstonians with entertainment that’s as big as Texas and its bull riding tricks. After three weeks of fantastic livestock exhibitions and 20 exhilarating performances by some of the world’s biggest recording artists, Rodeo Houston came to an end this past Sunday night.

Engagement is a powerful word in the social media world. As social media rockstars at Integrate, we are constantly searching for ways to spark conversations and maximize engagement between our clients and their audiences. Because we understand how difficult that may sometimes be, it’s inspiring to see the way different brands execute their engagement strategies. We must say that this year, Rodeo Houston’s social media team did an exceptional job initiating conversations on their social media channels. Not only did they provide continuous updates of the latest Rodeo Houston happenings, but they also maintained a strong dialogue on social media and in-person between the organization and its audiences. Some of my favorites include:

1.Rodeo Houston’s Social Station: To start off, something hard to miss this year at Rodeo Houston was the electric Social Station that was located inside the NRG center, right in the hub of the livestock exhibitions and rodeo events. Attendees were encouraged to stop by the Social Station to “check-in,” hop in the photo booth and share their photos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #RODEOHOUSTON. In addition, visitors could obtain more information about ways to stay connected with the organization post-rodeo season and representatives were always close by ready to answer their questions. Did we mention all of the sweet Rodeo Houston swag available at this station?

2.Spontaneous Giv eaways via  Instagram: In case you don’t follow Rodeo Houston on Instagram, here’s what you missed: in addition to promoting Insta gram contests, Rodeo Houston’s social media crew spread some joy to two lucky rodeo attendees by surprising them with exclusive  “Meet and Greet” concert passes! Isn’t that co ol? In one occasion, they made it a bit more challenging for contestants by posting a fun mini -scavenger hunt for extra Brad Paisley tickets! However, it was no match for Paisley fans, as it didn’t take long before the winners were announced. This act of spontaneity received thousands of likes and fans were quick to share the news with friends and other Instagram users!

3.Rodeo Houston Meet & Tweet: This was probably our favorite social media strategy out of all three. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to converse with your favorite celebrity via Twitter? Well…Rodeo Houston’s social media crew made this dream a reality for several Twitter enthusiasts! As a way to initiate conversations about the star entertainers at Rodeo Houston, the social media crew would feature daily “Meet & Tweets” with the performers and directed questions from their fans via Twitter. These videos were posted on Rodeo Houston’s Facebook page and received a lot of positive comments, likes and shares.

We can’t wait to see what new social media strategies Rodeo Houston will come up with next year! In the meantime, tell us what you enjoyed the most about he Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2015 on our Facebook page!
