Sorry it’s been a while since our last post, things have been quite busy here at integratePR, in fact that’s becoming the norm around here, but hey, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Here’s an exciting little piece of news! Men’s Health recently took on the daunting challenge of calculating the most social network savvy cities in the United States. Dangerous waters if you ask us, not only do you have to figure out HOW to calculate a fair ranking system, but you also have to deal with the reaction to the results.
Speaking of results, some of them were definitely surprising! The survey determined the 100 most socially networked cities in the United States.
The calculations were based off each city’s Facebook and LinkedIn use per capita, as well as their Twitter traffic and use of Myspace, Friendster, Reddit, Digg, and SimplyMap.
Here are the top ten most socially networked cities based on the study:
1) Washington D.C.
2) Atlanta, GA
3) Denver, CO
4) Minneapolis, MN
5) Seattle, WA
6) San Francisco, CA
7) Orlando, FL
8) Austin, TX
9) Boston, MA
10) Salt Lake City, Utah
Way to go Austin for making it into the top 10! Houston needs a little work, coming in at #48; but hey, could you believe they’re ahead of #53 New York City?! Some other interesting ranks are Los Angeles at #33, Dallas at #16 and El Paso coming in at #100.
This is an exciting survey and will definitely open some doors for studying the social network capabilities of cities and how they grow. It also serves as a good benchmark for cities looking to improve their social networking.
