Social Media News Brief

Categorized in:

There are a lot of exciting tidbits of info roaming the web today. We thought we would give you a brief update on some exciting or…interesting to say the least…stories. It’s almost as if we need a Social Media News Flash for Monday morning!

1)   Mark Zuckerberg’s dog is now on Facebook. That’s right the founder of the epic social network has made a Facebook page for his dog Beast—a white Puli. Already Beast has received more than 2,000 likes, and Zuckerberg and girlfriend Priscilla Chan are listed as the page’s owners. Facebook has not confirmed that the page was made by Zuckerberg, but one thing is for sure, it definitely shows a softer side than we are used to.

2)   The popular game Angry Birds will be coming to Facebook within the month. Rovi CEO Mikael Hed, which produces the game, says the new features are unlike any Angry Birds game so far. There has not been any further mention of the possible TV series based of the game that is in the works.

3)   Twitter is now valued at $7.7 billion after the latest auction of shares. This is almost twice as much as Twitter was valued at after January’s auction of shares! Though not quite as impressive, it mirrors Facebook’s recent increase in value that we reported a few days ago. It seems to be a good quarter so far for the popular micro-blogging site.

There’s a brief update on some exciting stories from today. March madness has definitely begun and with SXSW just around the corner, we’re sure we’ll have more news for you soon. Happy Monday!
