Happy Go Texan Day! It’s a magical time in Houston because the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo began last night with the famous World Championship BBQ Cookoff! The Rodeo attracts people from all over the nation to enjoy the world’s largest livestock show and we feel lucky to have such an unbelievable event right in our own backyard. But from the food to the concerts, the shows to the parking, planning a Rodeo excursion can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. Luckily, the IntegratePR team has mapped out our next three weeks so we can take advantage of the 81st Annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We’d like to share our plans to ensure you make the most of the Rodeo too!
Even though we all live relatively close to Reliant Stadium, traffic and parking for the Rodeo is a nightmare. Thankfully this year, Goode Company’s Armadillo Palace has partnered with Houston’s only jitney, The Houston Wave, to shuttle rodeo-goers to and from Reliant every day from today, February 22 to Sunday, March 17 for only a $20 round trip. The Armadillo Palace has brought in a new dance floor and is offering amazing live shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, including Jesse Dayton whom we’re all eager to hear live this Saturday night! You can purchase your tickets online and view a full music lineup on the Armadillo Palace’s Facebook page.
One of the best things to do at the Rodeo is eat! There’s a wide array of food including traditional barbeque and not so traditional fried foods (including bacon). Some of our office’s favorite fares at the Rodeo are funnel cakes, Goode Company brisket sandwiches and pecan pie, fried Oreos, Berryhill fish tacos, giant corn on the cob and turkey legs. To wash down the delicious fair cuisine, we all opt for a cold beer or a michelada.
As if the food isn’t enough of a treat, this year’s Rodeo concert lineup is absolutely amazing! With a stellar performer every night, it was hard to choose which concerts to attend. The Integrate team has already purchased tickets for acts such as Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Bruno Mars, Pitbull, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw. The carnival and Mutton Bustin’ are other forms of our favored Rodeo entertainment.
If you haven’t organized your Rodeo outing yet, then now’s the time to do so! These next three weeks will go by quickly, so throw on your boots, buckle your cowboy belt and enjoy the ride! Tell us on Facebook, what is your favorite thing about the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
