Well last night was a big night for the movie industry, as the awards season was capped off with the 83rd Academy Awards. There was a lot of buzz about the Oscars this year because the competition was close.
After raking in awards at the Golden Globes, The Social Network was snubbed by the SAG Awards after The Kings Speech took the top awards. However, in the weeks leading up to the Oscars The Social Network made another push with the critics.
It was not enough unfortunately, because The King’s Speech took best picture, best actor and best director among others. The Social Network did take awards for best original score, best adapted screenplay, and best film editing.
So overall, the Facebook movie did walk away with some success, but it didn’t match the success of the generational icon at the Golden Globes. Some critics pointed out that despite the younger appeal of the Oscars this year, the results were traditional.
Even though The Social Network didn’t take the top Oscars, we’re still so proud of its achievements. It is an excellent film that speaks to this generation and the impact of social media.
What did you think about the Oscars? Were you pleased with the results?
