Meet IPR’s Spring Interns!

This week we were all thrilled to welcome Lisa and Kaitlyn, our new interns for the spring semester! Lisa, a bubbly, self-proclaimed nerd, is our public relations intern while Kaitlyn, who describes herself as energetic and thoughtful, will serve as our social media intern. We’re so excited to have such amazing young ladies on board this semester. To get to know Lisa and Kaitlyn, read their interviews below!

Lisa Anderson

Where do you go to school and when will you graduate?

The University of Houston and this May.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I married my high school sweetheart, but I hate when other people say that. I lived in California while my husband was in the Marine Corps and I miss it so much! I treat my dog like he is my child, sometimes forgetting he’s not actually a human being.

What is your favorite thing about public relations?

Not doing the exact same thing every day.

What are you looking forward to this semester with IPR?

Learning as much as possible from this group of talented, driven ladies!

What do you like to do in your free time?

What is free time?

Who is your role model/inspiration?

Women who do it all: work full-time, have kids, help their kids with homework, attend all their events, cook dinner, have a clean house, make time for their husbands and have a social life. Those women have super powers.

Describe yourself in four words:

Honest, random, bubbly, nerdy (I used the first three in my interview with Jessie, but she liked them so I used them again)

What is something you would like people to know about you?

I am a closet dork who tries to act awesome but occasionally fails… epically.

What’s on your desk?

Water, always!

Where did you go to school and when did you graduate?

I went to the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!) and graduated in May 2012.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am from a small town in south Mississippi and after I graduated from Ole Miss I moved to Houston with my family. I’m still trying to get used to Texas. It’s been great so far but I‘m still having a little trouble with the traffic. I have my degree in journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations.

What is your favorite thing about social media?

It’s instantaneous, as soon as I post something I can immediately tell how people feel about it. It’s a great way to test the waters with people because on social media sites people have no problem telling you exactly how they feel.

What are you looking forward to this semester with IPR?

I’m really looking forward to being hands on and having an experienced group of professionals show me the ropes!

What do you like to do in your free time?

Recently in my free time I’ve been house hunting which is not as fun as I thought it would be. But normally I do a lot of reading and I am an excellent baker. I do some running and signed up to do my first 5K in February.

Who is your role model/inspiration?

I have many but I’m going with my grandmother. She was an English teacher and is the only reason I don’t have a thick Mississippi accent. She taught English to nearly everyone in my town who over the age of 35. People still come up to me and tell me what a great person she is. I hope I can have that kind of impact on people one day.

Describe yourself in four words:

Smart, Sarcastic, Energetic, Thoughtful

What is something you would like people to know about you?

I’m early to everything. I have a problem overestimating how long it will take me to get somewhere so I’m normally 10-15 minutes early everywhere I go.

What’s on your desk?

Pens, everywhere

Pitch Perfect DVD case

AP Stylebook

J.K. Rowling’s Casual Vacancy

Three different stacks of sticky notes
