The team at Integrate could not be more excited about this weekend’s Bayou City Art Festival!! We have been working our butts off gathering tons of buzz for the festival and are honored to be involved with this non-profit whose proceeds benefit arts organizations across the city.
Set with a backdrop of downtown Houston and a perfect weather forecast, artists from around the country will line the streets surrounding City Hall Plaza and Sam Houston Park. Whittled down from a talented applicant pool of 1500, the committee picks 300 of the best artists, featuring sculpture, print, wood, paint, mixed media, photography, clay and more!
The Downtown 2012 featured artist, Charlie Hardwick, created Bayou City Art Festival’s official poster, above. Charlie has created posters for rock legends including RHCP, Wilco, and Radiohead. Pronounced legally blind in 2007, Charlie is an amazing inspiration who has continued to create his digital photography using a computer and special drawing software.
In addition to art, there will be a creative zone where children can make their own artwork, and a wine bar for adults that provides a beautiful view of the “art on the water” sculptures that will float in the City Hall Reflection Pool. This year the festival is proud to introduce their Local Roots Global Culture stage, which will showcase music from various walks of life. After the daytime fun dies down at 6pm, the festival’s Art Heist Rocks event will take place on the steps of city hall Saturday night and will allow patrons to get art – at a steal!
Stay tuned for pictures from this amazing event on our Facebook page on Monday. If you have any questions, please let us know!
