When you work in an industry as fast moving and high energy as PR, you have to have a creative, yet efficient, workspace. As I’m sure y’all know by now, I’m an overly organized individual who thoroughly believes in to-do lists and color-coding. While some Type-A personalities perfect a bare workspace, I choose to surround myself with fun inspiration to keep my creative juices flowing. You might be wondering what the meaning is behind all the knick knacks. Well here you go! Here is an up close and personal look at my workspace.
Beyond the double computer screens for maximum social media and traditional media monitoring, I have my Erin Condren calendar where all my meetings are listed and my Integrate notebook for my to-dos and notes. I like to make sure I have a pen and paper within arms reach at a moments notice. You never know when a great idea will pop into your head, so I’m always ready to take notes!
The Desk Accessories
Isn’t a Buc-ee bobblehead a totally normal desk accessory? When integrate sent me to SXSW this year, I made a stop and had to pick up a travel souvenir. Now every time I look at him I’m reminded of all the awesome information I learned at the conference. On the outside he might just look like a goofy accessory, but to me, he sparks new ideas when I’m looking for creative solutions.
Inspiration and motivation come in many forms. For me, having a photo of my “BAE” on my desk reminds me of the love and support I am so fortunate to have. On tough days when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I’m reminded that I have wonderful support network at home in addition to the amazing team I’m so lucky to work with.
In addition to some photos, I have a quote from Benjamin Button framed on my desk. It was a gift given to me by my aunt for my college graduation. A gentle reminder that life is a journey and I need to enjoy the ride.
The Happy Wall
Beyond the desk, I have to give a major shout out to my “happy wall” as it truly brings a smile to my face when I need a pick me up. Have you heard of cute aggression? Well, Prince George is my happy place and I just want to squeeze him every time I see him. I’ve printed out a few of my favorite Prince George photos to hang on my wall, because I can’t help but smile when I look over at them. The happy wall is an ever-changing; an ever growing spot dedicated to making me feel joyous. For now, Prince George is reining the space. But seriously, the kid has some major swag.
